Local Commodity Manager

Basic Function: The Commodity Manager is responsible for all sourcing and procurement activities to ensure the appropriate supply base is being utilized and that all efficiencies are being recognized. This position will lead a commodity team to ensure that the right parts conform to all drawings and specifications.    PPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:    Safety  

  • Follow all office safety policies
  • Ensure compliance with all shop floor safety regulations when participating in activities within any production, logistics, warehousing, or staging areas.   
Compliance   
  • Ensure compliance with all     RECARO policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Ensure compliance with any regulatory or governing body to include, but not limited to, AS9100, EN9100, ISO9001, ISO14001, FAA, EASA, Airbus, or Boeing   
Data Management  
  • Manage operational metrics to ensure PO’s are placed on time and goods are received on time and in full.
  • Manage all cost initiatives to completion to align with company strategy and goals.   
Supplier Management   
  • Ensure monthly reviews are conducted with key suppliers to monitor cost, quality, schedule, risks, capacity, and forecast.
  • Communicate supplier performance across the global supply chain
  • Manage all mitigation and recovery plans   
Global Strategy  
  • Participate on the global supply chain strategy committee to establish best practices
  • Support RECARO global sourcing strategy to include sourcing in low cost countries, mitigation of exchange rate risk, and cost savings targets
  • Negotiation and Supplier Selection
  • Ensure sourcing board meetings are being held on a regular basis to evaluate quotes and oversee the award     of business in RECARO’s best interest.   
Commodity Strategy  
  • Ensure the RECARO global commodity strategy is being executed in accordance with the plan set out for RAU
  • Collaborate with all functional teams as well as other business units to achieve all business goals as well as supply chain strategies.
  • Manage supply base and maintain partnerships with suppliers while communicating performance metrics and scorecards on a regular basis
  • Implement best practices within the purchasing organization to establish lean operations to maximize efficiencies
  • Collaborate with other functional areas to align strategies and operations to meet company goals
  • The Commodity Manager is also responsible to develop, implement and regularly update a regional sourcing     strategy for the specific commodity in cooperation with other Recaro sites.   
Education/Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree Supply Chain or related field, two (2) years of experience in procurement or related field may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college
  • Willing and able to travel throughout the United States and internationally as required.
  • 8-10 years of experience in Purchasing, Materials Management, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 2-5 years of experience leading teams   
Certificates and Licenses:  
  •     Six Sigma – Green, Black, or Master Black belt preferred
  •     APICS – CPIM, CSCP preferred

Buyer

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: Safety

Purchase Order Management
  • Place and confirm purchase orders with approved suppliers for established material, parts, or services in accordance with contracts, master production schedule, independent spares/repair requirements, and established lead times.
  • Ensure purchase orders are executed, goods received, and invoices paid in accordance with approved terms & conditions.
Master Data Management
  • Maintain contracts and source rules within ERP system
  • Manage lead time, part cost, setup cost, and mode of transportation
Change Management
  • Coordinate all engineering changes with the Engineering department, as assigned
  • Perform analysis of inventory to include supplier WIP and transportation WIP
  • Calculate cost impact due to engineering change to include cost of rework and scrap
  • Manage effectivity date of change to minimize cost impact and maximize inventory consumption
  • Ability to understand and read bills of material and Engineering drawings and RECARO standards
  • Prepare all needed engineering data packages and facilitate submission to suppliers
  • Manage supplier quote and negotiation process
  • Manage PO revisions to support effectivity and master production schedule
  • Resolve any documentation discrepancies
Supplier Management
  • Conduct monthly supplier management reviews to support business objectives & deliverables
  • Manage supplier on time delivery and fill accuracy
  • Manage all quality issues throughout the process to include first article, receiving inspection, discrepancies on the production line, and supplier corrective actions
  • Management total cost of ownership to include part cost, transportation cost, cost of poor quality
  • Maintain standard risk cube to include any mitigation plans
  • Facilitate communication of forecasts with suppliers to ensure proper long range planning of capacity, manpower, and raw materials
  • Manage any instances of supplier transition and present to sourcing board
  • Ensure all RECARO owned tooling is properly tagged and logged into ERP system of record and maintain tool life, maintenance records and prepare annual tooling budget requirements
Global Strategy
  • Support RECARO global sourcing strategy
  • Explore opportunities in low cost countries
  • Support all exchange rate risk mitigation efforts
  • Develop annual plan to accomplish cost targets
Negotiation
  • Ensure all required documentation is in place to include but not limited to: Non-Disclosure Agreement, Global Purchase Agreement, Quality Assurance Agreement, Supplier Questionnaire, Supplier Risk Assessment, Supplier Audit, Supplier Credit Report
  • Lead negotiations of all terms and conditions of all agreements and contracts in the best interest of RECARO
  • Ensure all negotiations are legal, ethical, and in accordance with company policies as well as any governing or regulatory agencies
Supplier Selection
  • Ensure supplier capabilities and core competencies are in line with the commodity family strategy and RECARO business objectives
  • Conduct fair competition among qualified potential suppliers
  • Evaluate supplier scorecard and audit results where applicable
  • Present results to supplier selection board or sourcing board for approval
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.  8 years of experience in Procurement or related field may be substituted for degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineered-to-order procurement
  • Ability to multi-task is essential. 
  • Willing and able to travel domestic or international as needed

Quality Manager

  Basic Function:  The Quality Assurance Manageris responsible for directing and managing the activities of the US quality assurance function in a manner that ensures all incoming materials, the production process, and final product meet the approved specifications as well as customer and regulatory requirements.   PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develops and leads business financial goals and responsible for managing and meeting budgets for the area of Quality and provides justification and plans for improvement when the actual results deviate from the budget.
  • Assists with the development of strategic plans for operational activity for company.
  • Manages and directs the quality assurance function in a manner that ensures all incoming materials, the production process, and final product meet the approved specifications as well as customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides periodic quality-related training to plant personnel.  Conducts periodic audits to ensure that proper practices and procedures are consistently performed.
  • Develops and maintains quality statistics, charts defects and non-conformities utilizing computer system.  Maintains all relevant documentation
  • Coordinates closely with German plant to ensure consistency with practices, procedures and specifications. 
  • Frequently contacts personnel in Engineering, Purchasing and other departments for the purpose of discussing Supplier production problems in order to secure necessary information or consider factors which may interfere with the effectiveness of production. Takes preventive or corrective action to remedy the problem or refer it to others who may be more directly responsible.
  • Field issues and concerns from Production Floor concerning purchased parts.  Work to resolve issues by driving down to root cause.
  • Maintains complete knowledge of the Quality Management Manual and relevant procedures and follows all guidelines as defined by ISO 9001:2000 / AS 9100, Boeing requirements, customer requirements, FAA and other regulatory
    • Participate actively in continuous improvement program and corrective action projects, contributing by leading specific improvement activities
    • Responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluations of direct reports, including performance management, identifying training needs, capacity building and succession planning.
    • Support Lean and 5S initiatives
    • Keeps abreast of trends in the aircraft industry in order to better anticipate needed quality operational improvements.
    • Chairs the Material Review Board and conducts regular meetings.  When materials deviate from quality standards, initiates a meeting and facilitates the decision-making process
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience
  • At least 5 years of related experience
  • Experience managing teams in a production environment
  • Extensive knowledge of Quality systems and procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and get positive results
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
