Design Validation Engineer I

Overview

The Design Validation Engineer I is responsible for conducting structural analysis of the overall seat design and individual components. Position is an integral part of the design validation team that defines and organizes the validation process to ensure a seat meets the full spectrum of structural and body mechanics impact criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Weights engineering analysis that includes calculating weight, moment of inertia and center of gravity of aircraft seats for current and future projects.
  • Your area of responsibility will include documenting and presenting the results, as well as archiving data in a weight database and releasing it according to the defined processes.
  • Perform Interface loads and forces/deflections analysis that will help in identifying critical seat configuration.
  • By use of hand calculations or numerical stress analysis, support design validation team in validation of seat design using FEA software.
  • Support in evaluation of test results and drawings with recommendation of design improvements in conjunction with engineering staff.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of four year B.S degree is required in Aerospace / Mechanical / other engineering fields.
  • Strong structural mechanics knowledge required.
  • Possess analytical skills to solve complex problems.
  • Knowledge of LS-Dyna, ANSA or similar FEA pre/post-processor software is desired.
  • Motivation & urge to learn through interaction.
  • Possess the drive to understand the know-how of relevant software tools.
  • Experience in use of a 3D modeling software is desired.
  • Relevant Internship experience will be considered.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience in CATIA V4 or V5 or a similar program is preferred.
  • Experience in MS Office products is a must.
  • Experience in the use of FAR, TSO regulations as well as the use of matrix parts lists with high variant diversity in SAP is desired.
