Repair Station Quality Inspector I
Overview
Performs quality control inspections, checks, and tests as part of the repair process. Inspects materials, parts and products at different stages of production including the return to service (issues single/dual released 8130s). Supports other Repair Station Quality team members as needed. Records observations and may make recommendations for improving processes.
Responsibilities
- Inspecting the work performed by the Shop Technicians as overseen by the Lead Technician, to ensure that the Manufacturer’s requirements have been carried out, and that the unit checked conforms to airworthiness certification requirements for that type of unit by placing the acceptance stamp on the Work Traveler.
- Determining that no defective or unserviceable part is installed in the maintenance process of any units under repair.
- When required, assisting the Shop Lead in performing Preliminary Inspection and Hidden Damage Inspection (If required) on incoming customer hardware.
- Placing unserviceable parts in the Segregated Area for disposition.
- When assigned, performing periodic checks on all precision tools jigs and test equipment. Ensure they are calibrated as required and in the calibration log.
- Ensuring that all work done in the shop conforms to Recaro Aircraft Seating Americas, LLC policies and procedures and is carried out in accordance with applicable manufacture’s standards, FAA regulatory requirements, local commercial laws and OSHA working conditions.
- May inspect all incoming materials and parts for acceptance, and ensuring that Certificates of Compliance or 8130-3’s (where applicable) are received, prior to placing in inventory.
- Receives, inspects and processes customer hardware, Buyer Furnished Equipment (BFE) and Customer Furnished Equipment (CFE) at Receiving Inspection.
- Contacts customers if part number and/or serial number on the Customer Repair Order is incorrect.
- Maintains files of paperwork on parts/components that has been subcontracted out for repair.
- Identifies and documents any damage to the part/component.
- Enters hardware and customer information into the Repair Station Receiving Log.
- Initiates Work Traveler RS006 and places it with the parts/components.
- Prepare repaired and inspected units for shipment. Make sure all required documentation are included in the package and in accordance with the customer and shipping specifications.
- Update the shipping information into the data Log system and advise the customer of the upcoming shipment.
- Maintains and updates Scrap Log for items in the segregated area.
- Monitors and oversee the scrap process and ensures scrap parts are mutilated in accordance with this manual and FAA order 8120.11.
- Ensure the rejected parts are either returned to the customer or destroyed (mutilated).
- Release to Service units utilizing FAA form 8130-3 if a Repairman Certificate is held.
- Ensure that all work conducted in the shop conforms to Recaro Aircraft Seating Americas, LLC policies and procedures and is carried out in accordance with applicable manufacture’s standards, FAA regulatory requirements, local commercial laws.
- Any and all duties of the Quality Inspector may be delegated to any qualified assistant, as necessary. Delegation does not relieve the Quality Inspector of overall responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Experience in standard concepts, practices, and procedures
- Experience working as a Technician / Mechanic / Assembler
- Must be able to read engineering drawings, complete basic statistical computations, write detailed reports, understand and apply the requirements of the Repair Station Manual
- Familiarity with products, its composition and the methods of production as well as an in-depth knowledge of quality guidelines, including customer and FAA/EASA requirements and procedures is preferred.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
