Overview

Position Title: Textile Engineer II
Position Location: 2275 Eagle Parkway, Fort Worth, TX 76177
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Responsibilities
Summary of Duties:
- Provide engineering support for all aspects of the assigned development project to ensure functionality, quality, design, cost, and schedule.
- Coordinate activities in purchasing, engineering, quality, and program management to ensure the project’s success.
- Ensure that the appropriate manufacturing procedures are utilized to meet the requirements of individualized client specifications.
- Effectively participate and contribute in telecoms with overseas engineers and program management by applying textile engineering knowledge, discussing manufacturing issues, and suggesting potential seat development topics and innovations.
- Interface with outside suppliers by providing engineering guidance to cut and sew suppliers of seat covers.
- Create bills of material for aircraft seat components and assemblies.
- Create design change notification documents.
- Create presentations outlining design direction and design issues.
- Utilize CAD 2D/3D systems to design aircraft seats and components that meet customer expectations and regulations, including the detailed design of cushions, dress cover assemblies, or a combination of both.
- Generate 2D drawings based on created 3D models using standard aerospace drafting practices and in-house drafting standards.
- Respond to customer concerns by making design changes to seats and components that meet customer expectations and regulations.
- Participate in design meetings with project engineers to discuss engineering issues, including design changes and customer requests.
- Support Purchasing and Production by providing the necessary documentation for sourcing parts.
- Verify use of appropriate materials according to their usage on the seat (attachment and flammability).
- Provide technical solutions and suggestions for customer concerns regarding in-service issues or product longevity.
Telecommuting permitted but must work at worksite location 3 days per week.
Qualifications
Education requirements: Master’s degree in Apparel, Textile Merchandising, Textile Technology, Textile Science & Engineering, or closely related field.
Experience requirements: 1 year of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
Special Skills or Other Requirements:
Applicants must have experience with each of the following:
- Foam lamination performance within textiles, and synthetic leather.
- Using CAD software for pattern making, digitizing, industrial cutting machine and industrial sewing machines.
- Reading and understanding technical datasheets for fabric, leather and synthetic leather.
- Using different types of textile materials and their processes for sewing.
- Textile engineering
Travel requirements: Up to 10% domestic and 10% international travel required.
